Introduction

Satori-5 webmaster Gordon D McHendry on a rare good day in 2000...

          This webpage will be a little bit special. Most News Alert Entries will have been carefully selected from the cream of worldwide news events relating to ME/CFS, MCS/TILT/CI, HRS/EI, and the conventional and alternative health fields. They probably wont come along all that often - but when they do you can bet your boots for sure that they will be well worth reading. Important new information about Satori-5 itself will also be posted here.

          For example I can think of no better News Alert article to launch this new and important section of Satori-5 than the incredibly bold International Criminal Court action raisied by Dr Rath and his associates charging the pharmaceutical companies with mass murder on a worldwide scale and calling for the guilty parties to be finally brought to justice.

Every Cause Calls Forth its Champions
          When I first learned of this article [only recently at time of writing] I was absolutely overjoyed by it. Finally someone has come along with enough balls and the actual wherewithall to tackle the utterly reprehensible "sickness industry" head-on through the legal system. Satori-5 salutes you and your bold collegues Dr Rath. God speed and God bless your work.

And Throw Away All Those Trillions?
          The Sickness Industry never has and never will be interested in curing us of anything. Where would, for example, the dandruff shampoo industry be if one bottle of the stuff actually cured your dandruff? The truth is that Health is the last thing these industries want for us. Prefering rather to bleed us and our health services dry by creating an endless string of product/medicines that offer by design not "cure of cause" - but only ever "temporary relief of symptom".

SUMMARY

           "This complaint brings before the International Court of Justice (ICC) the greatest crimes ever committed in the course of human history. The accused are charged with causing injury to and the death of millions of people through the ‘business with disease’, war crimes and other crimes against humanity. These crimes fall under the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court."

           "The accused know that they will be held accountable for these crimes and they have therefore embarked on a global campaign to undermine the authority of the ICC in order to put themselves above international law and continue their crimes to the detriment of all mankind."

           "Therefore, the current complaint must be considered by the ICC with utmost urgency. Moreover, every natural person and every government is hereby called upon to join this complaint with the goal to once and for all terminate these crimes."

"Alliance for Natural Health Mounts legal challenge to the Food Supplements Directive Ban on the sale and manufactre of vitamins and minerals"

Who is the Alliance for Natural Health?

The ANH is a pan-European and International organisation of supplement manufacturers, retailers, practitioners and consumers very concerned about the negative effects of the European Food Supplements Directive, which come into effect in this country on 1 August 2005.

What will be the effect of the directive?

The Directive will ban about 300 of the 420 or so forms of vitamins and minerals present in around 5000 products on the UK market, many of which are sold in high street health food stores. The ban will have a similar effect on products in such countries as Sweden, the Netherlands and Ireland which have advanced markets for food supplements.

Why will the ban have catastrophic effects on the food supplements industry?

There is a growing deterioration in the UK diet bought about by the economic pressure of big business and the advertising of fast food. The decreasing nutritional quality of the average diet along with the increasing exposure to toxins make the role of nutrition, including use of supplements, of paramount importance in healthcare in order to address the growing incidence of degenerative diseases like heart disease, cancer, diabetes and osteoporosis to mention but a few. The ban will have the effect of making it much more difficult for anyone concerned about their health and diet to supplement it with a range of products which have been consumed and sold for years without any health risk.

The second impact of the ban is that many small companies who research into, produce and market these safe and effective food supplements will be unable to sell them without i nvesting huge sums of money in proving their safety – despite the fact that we have been consuming many of the food-forms of nutrients to be banned in many cases for hundreds of years with no known health risk.

The ANH challenge

          The ANH has begun the legal process for a declaration that the Directive is invalid under European law. Aided by lawyers from Brick Court Chambers and The Simkins Partnership in London, the ANH has set out to prove that this potentially catastrophic ban is not only unnecessary, but unlawful.

          Dr Rob Verkerk PhD, Executive Director of the ANH says:

           “This is a groundbreaking challenge to another intrusive and unwanted EU Directive ban which we aim to demonstrate has been passed unlawfully from the EU into UK law. We believe that it will rob the consumer of the right to buy important nutritional supplements to improve their diet and health and that of their children, as well as putting hundreds of small businesses and the livelihoods of thousands at risk. There is absolutely no justification for this ban and we aim to get it removed.”

Small businesses suffer most from the directive

Mike Ash, Managing Director of Nutri-Link Limited, a West Country based manufacturer and supplier of supplements to practitioners and health stores, is a co-claimant with the ANH. He represents many of the small businesses, which will be hit by the ban, and says:

“The Directive bans many of our most popular products and forces us and many other manufacturers needlessly to reformulate other key products. The cost to us to reformulate tried and tested products to comply with the directive is enormous. To develop a single product can take months of careful assessment and analysis. If we have to spend our time until August 2005 reformulating existing products to comply with the directive we cannot develop new products. In many instance, reformulation will not be possible at all as the most important ingredients of the product will be banned by the directive. The ban is a catastrophe for our business and customers.”

What will be banned by the directive?

          Among the 300 ingredients to be banned by the Directive will be natural forms of Vitamin E, found in food wheatgerm and organic bound minerals like selenocysteine, found in brazil nuts. In addition the directive aims to ban nearly all important trace elements used in supplements, including boron and vanadium.

          Demand for products nutrients sourced from natural ingredients is increasing rapidly among consumers simply because such products work very effectively. An increasing number of scientific reports are supporting their use in place of older-style synthetic nutrients that have been the mainstay of the supplement industry for several decades.

          Synthetic vitamins and inorganic minerals, typical ingredients in multivitamin and mineral products found in supermarkets and pharmacies will not be affected by the ban.

          In summary, advanced natural and well absorbed vitamin and mineral nutrients will be banned and what will be allowed will be the old-fashioned, synthetic versions, which tend to be much less effective.

          The Foods Supplements Directive ban on advanced nutrients thus destroys innovation and deprives consumers of the best food supplements now available.

Your message would then spring up like Hydra's teeth a thousand-fold across the international length and breadth of the Internet.

You have freed the genie from the milk-bottle of God knows how many thousands Robert - or tens of thousands - and there simply can be no putting them back in now. The "powers that be" can only hope to slow down the rate of "genie-freeing" - and they would only succeed in doing the exact opposite of that by trying to harm you or your work. Cereal Toxins Fears

"More than half of oat products contaminated"

           "More than half of breakfast cereals and muesli bars made with oats are contaminated with traces of toxins, scientists have found. Their study of 335 brand-name products such as Kellogg's, Nestlé's and Quaker detected traces of [fungal] mycotoxins."

           "In large quantities, such substances can lead to sickness, diarrhoea and in extreme cases, death. Researchers from the Food Standards Agency found three different types of mycotoxins in 174 samples. The Agency says the levels recorded are minimal and not considered a health risk for adults who follow a varied, balanced diet. However, in 21 products the toxic levels exceeded proposed EU safety limits designed to protect infants and children age three and under."

           "The findings have alarmed food campaigners, who say many parents feed their babies oat-based cereals from an early age. Kath Dalmeny, spokesman for The Food Commission, said: 'Many of these foods are popular with children. It is not enough to fob people off with the idea it is perfectly safe and we should not worry. Manufacturers can and should do more to reduce the levels seen in foods.'"

           "Mycotoxins are linked to fungus which grows naturally on plants. They are from a group called trichothecenes, which can cause sickness and even death in large quantities, according to the FSA. It says consuming lower levels over many years has been reported to harm the immune system and damage an unborn baby."

           "But it says the levels found in its study of products - which include Kellogg's Honey Loops, Nestlé's Cheerios, Quaker Harvest Crunch-Oat Clusters with real red berries and Boot's Organic Creamy Porridge - would not cause concern in terms of normal weekly diet. It added: "The survey does not raise any safety concerns about oat products on sale to the public and so consumers do not need to change their diets as a result.""

           "The Food and Drink Federation claimed the Agency had given its members a clean bill of health. But a spokesman admitted mycotoxin contamination was a problem the industry was trying to eradicate."

           "A spokesman for Boots said: 'We are not taking this lightly. That said, we are absolutely happy this product is safe.' Cereal Partners UK, which makes Cheerios, said it would review the findings "as a matter of urgency." Kellogg's said the survey 'did not raise any significant concerns'".

Chemical Sensitivity Awareness Day - 14th February

WARNING TO ROMANTICS !!
           The increasing use of perfumes and other chemicals in the home and work environment is creating a rising number of people who are becoming sensitized and are badly affected in all aspects of their life. Reactions will almost instantly occur causing among other symptoms sneezing and wheezing, headache, brain fog, lips and throat tingling, and a general feeling of ‘unwellness’.

In a survey of 6,000 people over 67% stated that they reacted negatively to perfume.
           The BBC have recognised the scale of the problem and their programme ‘Inside Out’ on BBC1 7.30pm on Chemical Awareness Day (14th February) will be highlighting the problems for sufferers and showing practical ways of managing everyday tasks made difficult by Chemical Sensitivity.

           Advice from Allergy UK – Before you dash out and buy that beautiful bottle of perfume or manly aftershave just check that you are not likely to get more of a reaction than you expect.

Chemical Sensitivity Day 14th February

Study on Pesticides and Bystander Exposure.
           The Royal Commission on Environmental Pollution are conducting a Study on Pesticides and Bystander Exposure.

           If you have been adversely affected by chemical treatments in the home or workplace, this counts as a ‘valid’ bystander exposure and evidence of such incidents will be welcomed.

           You can write to the commission giving them the facts of your chemical exposure then send your email to: dot.watson@rcep.org.uk

Professor Hopper has did the sufferers of these illnesses a great service in doing this DVD - and particularly so for making this DVD copyright free. This gives us all a great opportunity to also make a substantial contribution to the fight for proper medical, legal, and social recognition of these devastating physiological illnesses by helping to spread this DVD - or even just the news of it if that is all you can manage - as far and wide as we are individually able. Let us all make the most of this precious gift that been given to us.

           In the photograph above the courageous Professor is in the act of humbly declaring Simon Lawrence - Coordinator of the Scottish registered charity "The 25% ME Group" [for the severely affected] to be a hero for the great work he does for sufferers despite being very ill himself. All who know Simon personally - and I am honoured to count myself among them - will heartily agree with this sentiment. And I am equally sure too that all ME, MCS, FM, and GWS sufferers who know of the humble Professors outstanding and courageous work, including Simon, will already have applied the word "Hero" to Professor Hooper himself as well.

           On a personal note: I was very surprised - and felt honoured - to discover that Satori-5 was displayed on one of Professor Hooper's slides in this DVD as an online source of some of his written work relevant to the DVD content. Gave me a big lift - nice to know that I am still not completely useless :-) Just thought I'd share that with Satori-5's visitors - especially my regular visitors!

A Personal View
           This short film is a great contribution to the enormously important fight for our most basic health freedoms and I am delighted to be able to make it available for download here to all Satori-5 visitors. It lifted my spirits a lot to watch it just knowing that there are such good, high-profile people out there fighting on the side of truth and freedom for us. Let's help them in every way we can - while we still have the chance!

           Near the beginning of the film we are shown a highly trained SWAT team burst fully armed from their armoured carrier vehicle and move swiftly, quietly and very efficiently as a team through the night towards a target house. Suddenly the door bursts open and the SWAT team pile into a brightly lit kitchen with guns at the ready as Mel Gibson spins around in a housecoat with his hands high up in the air calling out "Hey guys...guys...it's only vitamins!" Then, as he is bent forward and his hands are cuffed behind his back he says in bewilderment to the arresting crack unit "Vitamin C... you know... as in oranges!".

           In this film Carolyn Dean M.D., N.D. of Friends of Freedom International and author of the book Death by Modern Medicine quotes staggering statistics that show 784,000 people die prematurely each year in America due to modern medicine. More staggering still is that there are other reputable statistics that indicate that the annual medical holocaust just quoted above may in fact be only 5% to 20% of the actual modern-medicine induced death-toll figures. America is no exception here as the ratio of "modern medicine" induced deaths per population throughout the western world is remarkably similar.

           And what are our respective governments doing in response to this annual slaughter by modern medicine? Conducting an immediate and full Public Enquiry or Congressional Hearing? No, incredibly they are instead, with a seemingly grim determination, out to make free access to vitamins and food supplements illegal. No, really! Now, you don't have to have a degree in rocket science to figure out that there is something very, very wrong and not a little sinister about that whole crazy situation.

           Please find the time to download "We Become Silent" - watch it - and show it to as many of your family, friends and colleagues as you can. If you have any kind of difficulty in downloading it - like repeated broken connections - or the download terminating prematurely as if it was complete - then download a free copy of Download Accelerator Plus - or DAP for short and you should have no more download problems. This program is incredibly fast and has a built in "Resume" function should anything go a bit pear-shaped [as seems to happen increasingly these days with any video films that challenge the status quo]. I use it often myself and think it is an outstanding bit of software. UK Coordinator for MCS-Global Resigns

It is with great regret that I have to announce my recent resignation from MCS-Global.Org.
This was due to concerns over an autocratic management style and increasing difficulties with regard to communication. And while I leave to persue my own vision with regard to warning the world about the dangers of many modern synthetic chemicals in our lives today I do so with the sincerest hope that MCS-Global will finally triumph over its present problems and once again contibute fully - and openly - to that same most worthwhile and urgent of causes today.

During my time at MCS-Global I managed to appoint 7 new MCS-Global Coordinators mostly within but also outside the UK too. I was also responsible via Satori-5, both directly and indirectly, for getting MCS-Global listed on a very usefull number of other websites. So, although my time at MCS-Global was relatively short I did manage to make a substantial contribution while I was there. And I do so hope that at least some of those things continue to be of help there now that I have left despite the recent and serious spate of coordinator resignations.

May you rise again MCS-Global to fulfill your true potential.
