Satori-5 Mission Statement

General Website Information

         (1)   Apart from much valued proof-reading services by my good friend Jan Ogilvie [see the "Thank You's" & "Credits" supplements] the production of the Satori-5 Website is strictly a one-man-band. It has been created, is owned, copyrighted, maintained, financed, and developed exclusively by me - Gordon D McHendry.

         (2)   The Satori-5 website is a completely independent endeavour with no financial, religious, or political ties whatsoever.

         (3)   There is absolutely no "paid for" advertising anywhere within Satori-5. The only products or services that get endorsed by this website are the ones that I have personally tried and tested and found to be genuinely benefical in some way or another to my health and/or general sense of wellbeing.

Aesthetics & Functionality

         Right from the very beginning I wanted Satori-5 to look and 'feel' a bit different. Unlike the harsh and often "unbelievable" realities of life with the man-made modern-plague illnesses highlighted and explored at this website I wanted Satori-5 to look vibrant, colourful, attractive, with a distinctive style that had a constant "reminding" air of the spiritual dimension of life about it. The first casualty in my persuit of these aims - was "frames" [a technical webpage development technique that divides a single webpage-screen into separate and independently functioning windows].

         With all the functional benefits of "frames" unavailable to me right from the off this immediately created the problem or how to effect efficient webpage navigation. Since some of the personal narative type pages in the "From Personal Experience" sections were going to be necessarily quite extensive, and since "ease-of-use" was something that was absolutely essential [especially for sufferers], this meant extensive use of in-page hyperlinks and the creation of some kind of a fluid menu system with which to navigate them. Having to "go back" and try to implement all that stuff - particularly under the "unbelievable" conditions that continue to prevail over me - was, it has to be said, exceedingly difficult [and I will cover all that another time elsewhere in Satori-5]. But with the volume of material growing all the time the "splat" in-yer-face presentation of lots of raw material became just too overwhelming. The initial simple presentation mutated into one that soon screamed "information overload" at me every time I looked at it. A bitter pill to swallow for sure but it simply had to be presented better somehow. I had to go back - again. There was just no other way to go forward.

         Neither Satori-5's Main Menu pages - nor its Supplementary Pop-Up pages - should ever require you, the welcome visitor, to go more than 3 "clicks" deep. All Main Menu pages use the same "blue wavy water" type background image for consistency and familiarity. To differentiate them from main website pages Supplement Pop-Up pages use three different backgrounds in a consistent, colour-coded way as follows: Level-1 [one click deep] = Dark-Blue Clouds background, Level-2 [two clicks deep] = Light-Blue Geometric background, Level-3 [three clicks deep] = Plain-White background - often just for easy read versions of scanned documents [but I'm not happy with this and will find a way to improve and integrate the "look & Feel" of Level Three Supplements more with the rest of the website at some point or another].

         A lot of very hard work, over a very long time, has went into the production and development of Satori-5. Most of it slower than a snails pace while suffering very substantial levels of debilitating illness. Throughout all that however, I have sought for a distinctive balance of fluid and attractive aesthetics with ease-of-use functionality - and I have given of my very best [and do so still] to try and realise as much of that as possible. Although you often might need the benefit of time-lapse photography to notice it Satori-5 is constantly growing and evolving toward the full realisation of its potentials. Meantime, I hope you find that the end result of all that effort at least makes for a more pleasing web-browsing experience during your most valued visit here to Satori-5.

Basic Motivations

         Initially my reasons for creating Satori-5 were simple enough:

         (1)   To tell my story of what it is like to live in the UK today with a combination of illnesses called ME, MCS, and VDU Terminal Sickness [see "Hazardous Radiations Sickness" - on the Homepage Menu].

         (2)   To provide a comprehensive information resource for other sufferers of these illness.

         (3)   To use the creative process of putting Satori-5 together as a form of multi-level therapy against the mental, emotional, and physical disablements imposed by the devastating aggregate of these illnesses and the sheer multi-level isolation that, in my experience, their combination inevitably generates domestically, socially, financially and, last but by no means least - medically.

Awakening to the Bigger Picture

         Having been largely trapped in an upstairs bedroom for years by severe M.E. my joy at finally being granted the tenancy of a brand spanking-new bungalow, fully customised for disabled use, was boundless. This joy was to be short lived however as my then relatively mild Multiple Chemical Sensitivity [MCS] illness was driven meteoric by the powerful toxic chemical cocktail typically generated by any brand new 'modern' building.

         In a very short space of time [see "The 'Unbelievable' Crisis" link below in Part-3:3] my life became a full-time 24/7 nightmare, out of which was to come [and STILL IS coming] much of the dire "From Personal Experience" material related in the ME, MCS, and HRS sections of this website.

         It soon became apparent to me however that the devastating ME/MCS/HRS illnesses combination I was fighting on a purely personal level was only part of a much wider and much more important battle that was already being fought, on several fronts, by various brave individuals and organisations right across the so called modern world [see the "News Alert" & "Helpful Links" supplements for some excellent examples of this].

         Awakening to the "Bigger Picture" I learned more and more about the fundamental causes that were driving the miserable disabling symptoms constantly blighting my life. And as I learned the thrust and scope of Satori-5 just seemed to expanded apace in a kind of organic way. The "fight", I could clearly see then, had to reach beyond my own little corner of it. To be of any real value I realised, it had to somehow try and address the transpersonal or global foundation-elements as well as the purely personal and local symptomatic ones. In short I needed a more holistic approach to the whole endeavour.

         So, what did I learn about this "Bigger Picture" then? Well, among other things, I leared about:

         * The proliferation of untested [and inadequately tested] chemicals into, quite literally, every nook and cranny of our lives.

         * The complete lack of health-saftey testing with regard to the synergistic effects of the myriad of chemicals already in our foods, our water, our living, sleeping, working and recreational environments, and in the very air we breathe - particularly indoor air. Incredible as it may sound - NOBODY ANYWHERE is testing for the synergistic effects of all these chemicals on our health! And God alone knows how many more new ones are being added into this corporate, man-made disaster on a daily basis? The whole devastating situation is wildly out of contol.

         * The almost inconceivably lucrative links between the very large and powerful trans-national chemical companies [responsible for all this chemical pollution of our environmnet] on the one hand - and their sister companies, the equally very large and very powerful trans-national pharmaceutical companies, on the other. Here we have what is possibly the ultimate gravy-train - with the former generating toxic-chemical induced illnesses on a worldwide scale that beggars belief - and the latter 'medicating' us through them to truly staggering profit.

         * The 'unhealthy' links between these trans-national pharmaceutical companies and our whole range of orthodox, allopathic health care professionals. For example via their funding of our medical training establishments and all kinds of scientific research. Via promotional commissions. Via all expenses paid trips to seminars and so on.

         * The 'unhealthy' links between these trans-nations chemical/pharmaceutical companies and various powerful regulatory government bodies [ie; the FDA in America and our corresponding pro-industry circus here in the UK].

         * The striking parrallels between the proliferation of thousands of synthetic chemicals in our environmnet and their adverse effects on our health - and the proliferation of electrical devices, power lines, telephone masts, etc in our environment and the adverse effects that these too have on our health via the various forms of radiation that they each give off.

         * Possible synergistic effects of both synthetic chemicals and EMF radition via the process of Electroporation.

         * The ignorance, disbelief, and sheer apathy of large sections of our general population regarding some or all of the issues raised above.

         * The ignorance, disbelief, and sheer apathy of large sections of our political, medical, religeous, and scientific communities regarding some or all of the issues raised above.

         * Finally, and to me perhaps the worst piece of all in this whole horrendous "environment & health" jigsaw puzzle, is the extent to which the "guilty parties" in this modern health holocost are prepared to go to knowingly cover up the truth of what is actually going on. Both to safeguard their precious multi-trillion pound per-anum money-making machine - and also to protect themselves from legal charges of corporate mass-murder on an unprecedented scale.

         It is simply inconceivable to me that these various trans-national companies and our various governments are completely unaware of the existence of these absolutely devastating toxic-chemical and hazardous-radiation induced health problems, or the devastating scale of their extent in our unaware and trusting populations. Yet the holocost just goes on and on? Why? Haven't enough of us, worlwide, been loudly calling out the warnings for decades now? So why does nothing ever happen to stop it all? Well, I suppose you don't really have to have the brain of a rocket scientist to work that one out, huh.

         As each new toxic-chemical and/or hazardous-radiation victim stands shakily up and in genuine distress and great bewilderment says "Hey guys - I think these chemicals and/or radiations are making me pretty ill" immediately they are invariably stigmatised with some variation or other of the disempowering label marked "psychiatric illness". Because the last thing the perpetrators of these illnesses on humanity want is that the great and immensely powerful sleeping public finally starts to WAKE UP to the enormity of what is actully going on - to the enormity of the harm that is being done to them and their children daily and nightly - quite literally right under their innocent, trusting, and largely unsuspecting noses!

         So, the simple "Basic Motivations" for creating Satori-5 - as stated above in Part-2 of this 5 part Mission Statement - rapidly began to deepen and broaden as I learned and directly experienced more of the deeply unpleasant but fundamental health-realities briefly outlined above. Having walked that difficult but illuminating walk a certain distance I decided, as anyone surely must that awakens to the reality of what is actually going on, that I too passionately wanted to add my voice, for whatever it may still be worth, to the rapidly growing global chorus dedicated to the cause of seeing a complete end to these corporate, political, medical, and scientific atrocities.

Exploring Alternative Health

Given modern medicine's complete and utter failure to help ME, MCS, and HRS sufferers and its seemingly boundless capacity to actually harm them, the exploration of the Alternative Health movement is, of sheer necessity, a fundamental part of the Satori-5 mission.

Particular focus will understandably be given to those therapies, techniques, food supplements, bio-electric protocols and so on, that show reasonable potential for the healing or management of the ME, MCS, and HRS illnesses.

The Satori-5 Network

To have an effective impact on the morally bankrupt commercial, political, medical, and scientific forces driving the ME, MCS, and HRS health problems that increasingly blight our lives as citizens of the modern, technological world we need not only a strong and active network - but a strong and active network of networks! The Satori-5 contribution, when it materializes in its entirity in late 2004, will seek to be a worthy spoke in the strong network wheel that is already beginnign to come together worldwide.

I have researched some of the software required to run both a 24/7 'live' Chat Room and a 24/7 notice-board type Forum. I also know now the kind of ISP services and Admin skills that will be required to make it all come together and given sufficient time and health resources I know for sure that I can make all that happen. For now though - the Part 5 stuff below simply must take priority ...

The "Unbelievable" Realities

         I have been forced by severe forms of the Myalgic Encephalomyelitis [ME/CFS] and Multiple Chemcial Sensitivity [MCS/TILT/CI] illnesses to sleep in a garden shed, all the year round and in all weathers, for almost 70 months at the time of writing/updating [December 2003].

         In addition to this, and throughout that very substantial period of time, I have been constantly poisoned indoors by day, in my house, to varying degrees [depending on weather conditions], by the constant outgassing of manufacturing chemicals from my new home.

         I am sure you will agree that paying for every single hour you spend in your own home with increasingly strong symptoms of poisonous illness is a harsh enough situation by anybody's standards - even without the shed-sleeping - even without suffering from fairly severe ME and HRS illnesses as well - but things actually do get very much worse than even all of that.

         The last 30 months or so of that half-decade plus have taken me well into the realms of the "unbelievable" and the unendurable as my enforced nightlife in the garden shed also starts making me poisonously ill in an unavoidable and increasingly severe way.          The three sections above contain quite a few full size colour photographs to both illustrate and substantiate their accompanying texts. Although the pictures have all been web-optimized and compressed to minimize the download times they still increase the the webpage download time a bit - so please be patient with them.

         The short video films below were made by me under extremely difficult circumstances and show something of what it is like to be forced by severe chemical intolerance to sleep in a small garden shed, in freezing bad winter weather, while in very poor health. Each video is available in three resolution sizes to give a download time acceptable to all bandwidth capacities. The "large" files are the recommended ones - as the integrity of the howling-storm soundtrack remains reasonable and, with the volume turned up reasonably loud through a set of stereo headphones, really helps to give some idea of just how incredibly oppressive "bedtime" for the severe ME/MCS sufferer can often be - right now in the UK today.

         Ok, if you are now familliar with all the material offered above via the "fast-track" links you may now be in a position to understand the next two major motivations for producing the Satori-5 Website:

         (1) To hopefully aid me in my struggle for simple physical survival. My present and ongoing situation is quite literally killing me - in a slow and deeply unpleasant way. Veteran as I am now at all this I truly just don't see any possible way this time for me to make it through another winter - and winter is now fast approaching. It is my hope, before then, to finally get enough information about my utterly scandalous health situation online and into the public domain. Then point the national press at it and, all my finger crossed, ask for their help - while I am still able to stand up. Having informed and/or complained to all official type bodies such as Councillors, MSP's, Doctors, Dentists, Consultants, Housing Departments, the Social Services and got not futher forward towards escaping the living hell I appear to be utterly trapped in, I feel that this National Press option is my very last chance - and that I am only going to get the one shot at it. So, I simply have to give it my very best effort. And a big part of that means enduring and suffering as much as I possibly can to hopefully buy enough time for Satori-5 to take convincing shape and fill out with as much of the ruthlessly suppressed "Truth" about ME/MCS as I am still capable of compiling.

         (2) Failing all that, if I just don't make it [and I must say here that from where I am presently standing this is still looking very much like being the case] then I want to have recorded here the full footsteps leading right up to my collapse and perhaps even death - in the hope that it might at least be of some use particularly to those still fighting on to liberate the suppressed realities behind the ME, MCS, and HRS illnesses. And generally too in the wider fight against the trans-national chemical corporations that are poisoning every aspect of our lives and environment. Generating for their sister-companies - in that diabolical process - the multi-trillion dollar/pound per-anum pharmaceutical "sickness industry" who themselves ruthlessly suppress natural cures for a whole range of serious illnesses [especially cancer] resulting in the death of millions worldwide every year - and the crippled health of God knows how many more.
