Dear Dr Carter

Further to my letter of 24.6.99 (copy enclosed) please be advised that I only managed to obtain your reply on the day prior to my appeal and that your reply letter itself failed to address any of the points raised in my letter. What I was asking you for was a letter from you to me – not to the DLA benefits officer – which I could take and present at my DLA appeal. As I had deliberately avoided asking you for supporting statements regarding my abilities to either walk or care for myself and had restricted myself to asking you only for simple confirmation of basic things (that I have M.E., that you visit me, that I have back pain, etc) I had not expected any problems with your response. As things actually turned out had I not been able to make a good case on the day for a postponement of my appeal I may well have lost the whole thing altogether on the 7th due to a simple inability to medically substantiate anything at all.

Fortunately, an appeal postponement was granted to allow me a further opportunity to obtain the basic confirmations I seek from you. Therefore I have enclosed here a copy of my letter to you of 24.6.99. Your written confirmations of the points I raise in it are absolutely essential Doc. I assume that said difficulties have arisen due to a simple misunderstanding regarding exactly what was being requested and such being the case I shall look forward to said written confirmations from you at your earliest convenience. However, if you do have a problem with any aspect of my request then I really would appreciate the opportunity to talk the matter over with you Doc.
