Dear Dr Carter
Thank you for sending me
copies of the Mark Rands (GHA) and Chest Clinic (ARI) letters dated 23.01.02
and 06.02.02 respectively. I have
responded to Mark Rands request in said letter for information regarding
building chemicals impacting on my MCS condition. Since he may wish to discuss the information provided with you at
some stage I have enclosed copies here for you of the material I sent to him:
1. “Environmental
Neurotoxic Illness…”
2. “No
Safe Haven – People with MCS Are Becoming the New Homeless”.
3. Formaldehyde
– Our Homes and Health”.
Sorry to keep hitting you with
more paperwork Doc but I really don’t see any other way of doing this.
I am still suffering totally
unacceptable levels of untreated illness due to the ongoing toxic injury
inflicted upon me, night and day, due to your professions poor understanding of
MCS – particularly severe MCS. I still
have to sleep with virtually no bedding in subzero temperature in my garden
shed – with only multiple levels of clothing to keep me alive.
Your profession is fond of
talking about the tendency of M.E. sufferers towards “.. unhelpful illness
beliefs..”. I have no doubt that for a
percentage of M.E. sufferers that such a statement holds true. I also have no doubt that in my own
particular case, especially with regard to my now severe MCS problems, that I
am on the receiving end of what I can only describe as your own “unhelpful
illness beliefs” regarding my condition. I put it to you Doc that it is ‘these’
that allow you to often leave me suffering unendurable levels of preventable
illness - either directly, due to lack of immediate medical intervention, or
indirectly via weak wishy-washy support to relevant third parties like
GHA. This is hard for both of us. Can we talk it out?
Yours sincerely
Gordon McHendry
